You might have thought life at the top is hassle free... not if our local crows have anything to do with it....

as you might be able to see the kite had some food in it's talons so I guess the crows could have been trying to get the kite to drop it, or perhaps the kite had stolen it from them in the first place...

No free lunch in the nature kingdom, at least not without a fight.

Nice work :-)

At any given moment, there is a sort of all pervading orthodoxy, a general tacit
agreement not to discuss large and uncomfortable facts… Anyone who
challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising
effectiveness. - George Orwell

“It's not a matter of whether the war is not real, or if it is, Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. … The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over [the purported enemy], but to keep the very structure of society intact.” George Orwell, 1984

Fantastic photos.

Crows the world over seem to mob just about any bird of prey in range, no matter what the size.

Amazing sequence!

Fascinating series, (its great that the numbers of Kites are such that you can get images now without wing tags) ... have you tried #1 upside down? I think it reads better.

Thanks. I know around the original Chiltern release site at Aston Rowant there are so many, I think I counted 42 in one view in a winter roost... I'll have a go at spinning the first one around.
