I got an email from Photoaccess descripbing their printers as following:

"We use Gretag Sienna printers for the print sizes up through 12x18. These are roll to roll printers that use a CRT imager to expose the digital image onto the photographic paper. We then process the paper on a Colex photo processor. We offer a choice of matte or glossy prints both on Fuji Crystal Archive, a long-lasting, high quality paper."

I have done an experiment with ofoto, ezprints and photoaccess and I rated photoaccess as the BEST among all three. Could anyone help me understand the Photoaccess printing as the above message said? Like, how is Gretag Sienna printer compared to those used in other online printing services? What can one expect from this kind of printing, like prints life, etc.

Appreciate your help,

SEAN

I have done the same test and drawn the same conclusions. I think the real limiting factor is that Photoaccess assumes an incoming colorspace of sRGB. sRGB is convienent for them because Microsoft have established it as standard. But it is not idea for print images compared to Video monitors. So higher end printers like Calypso assume a wider gamut colorspace like Adobe 98. It hink the assumed colorspace will clip the incoming image and be more of an issue than the printer mechinism behind it.

Cheers
