On a slightly different, although relevant tangent for this thread, i would like pose a question;
Does anyone know if, high capacity L-ion (2200mah) weigh approx. the same as modest capacity L-ion batteries (900mah) or more?
Logic and science would dictate that the higher capacity battery would weigh a lot more (due to more L-ion material in the battery to store the higher charge). I have just received 2 high capacity batteries to check for their validity and claims. I purchased them from eBay. They are LB-10's for my 1100d. They weigh almost the same as their lower capacity similies (give or take a gram). I would like to find out if the batteries live up to their advertised specs although, I don't want to just put the batteries in the camera and leave the camera on. Then, measure the time it takes until they lose charge to measure their capacity in order to validate their authenticity.
Does anyone know of a way to authenticate the battery, that does involve time consuming laboratory tests and/or proceedures? I think this is a valid question for this thread so as to demystify the delimna for people wanting to purchase these types of batteries in the future. It may turn out that they are just low capacity batteries dressed up to look like high capacity batteries. I will post my findings when the batteries can be properly tested.
Regards everyone...
