BLAMMO

I am seeing RED

what in the world is going on here?

It's the overexposure warning. You can turn it off near the top of the screen.
Explanation is accurate but... I wouldn't turn it off. I'd adjust the exposure down until it disappeared (that's what the red is telling you to do). but of course, that's assuming you don't want the sky blown out or don't take other post processing measures to get what you want.

The Black and White triangles in the histogram window indicates shadow and or highlight clipping. Use to dial in exposure

Serious advice here, I don't mean to sound flippant. You need to go out and find some source of documentation on how to use Photoshop and ACR. This is not the place to place to learn photoshop.

In answer to your alarming post.... the red areas are where your photo is overexposed clipping. Blue indicates underexposed clipping.

Go back to the first tab and decrease your exposure or recover highlights. Or just let those areas stay blown out.

1. Use Process 2010 (Current) because 2012 is not fully supported in ACR 6.7. It is only there for use with Lightroom 4. Process 2012 will be fully supported in ACR 7 with CS6.

2. Camera Vivid is not the best choice for this situation because contrast is too high. Try Camera Landscape , or Camera Neutral .

Bracketing and HDR processing, or masking is another way of dealing with bright skies.

masking??? i am familar with bracketing and hdr... what is masking??

gonna be googling...
Open the exposure for the ground in Photoshop with the proper adjustments for everything except the sky.

Open a bracketed exposure that is better for the sky and get it right in ACR.

Duplicate Layer for the sky image and make the ground image the destination. That will put the sky image in the ground file as the top layer.

Select the sky through one of various means—Magic Wand, Select Color Range, Brush, etc. Add feathering if necessary.

Click the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers pallet to add a layer mask.

That is only one way to do it. There are many ways to skin a cat in Photoshop.
