Explanation is accurate but... I wouldn't turn it off. I'd adjust the exposure down until it disappeared (that's what the red is telling you to do). but of course, that's assuming you don't want the sky blown out or don't take other post processing measures to get what you want.It's the overexposure warning. You can turn it off near the top of the screen.

Bracketing and HDR processing, or masking is another way of dealing with bright skies..... btw ordered a z pro cokin filter holder and a few singh-ray filters tohelp with these bright skys...
Open the exposure for the ground in Photoshop with the proper adjustments for everything except the sky.masking??? i am familar with bracketing and hdr... what is masking??
