Hello Imagers.

Can someone tell me if the Lowepro 55AW Toploader Zoom bag will take the A55 with an attached 18-200/250mm lens? I need to buy a bag very soon.

Thanks.

I am sure that it will if the lens you are talking about is a compact superzoom lens.

I tried fitting my A77 with the Tamron 18-270 lens attached and there was space enough for me to store the 16-50 SSM lens underneath or indeed to store the Tamron lens underneath if the 16-50SSM was attached to the camera. Obviously the lenses were closed to their shortest length and not extended.

However, I opted for the 75AW bag as I wanted one that would not only take the camera with one of my lenses attached and space to store the other but I also wanted to be able to keep the lens hood attached (and ready for immediate shooting when out and about) and the 55AW did not give me quite enough room whereas the 75AW does.

I ordered both form Amazon (to see which one suited my requirements) and returned the unwanted item for a full refund.

I know bags are challenge of the photography community for longer then I've been an amateur photographer. I have been on the trail of an appropriate bag that I can wear and interact with while wearing it, while it caters to my A77 with vertical grip and a Sony 70-400 G SSM lens attached and unattached - with lens hood mounted.

I've purchased and returned a number of bags over the past 2 months. I can name them if anyone has an interest. However, what I've ended up with is the next version of the Tamrac Velocity 9 bag i've been using for several years. I've purchased and kept the Tamrac Velocity 10x. It is deep enough to accommodate the configuration above. It also can accommodate keeping the long lens in the center slot and have my camera body with a shorter lens mounted and stored to the left or right of center. I believe this bag is marketed to accommodate 2 bodies, those the width to do as I've done even if with one body.

The sling and opening features of this bag has made it easy to swing it to the front of my body to manage change of lenses, etc., without taking the bag off my body.

I use the Toploader Zoom 50AW to carry my A55 with Sigma 18-250 lens attached, with the shade reversed, with spare batteries, card reader and the book. Plenty of room.

You don't need to go as big as the 55.

Thanks very much for your replies.

It does look like the Toploader 55 AW will be the one as it has 2 compartments - room for two additional stacked, and protected, lenses beside the camera with zoomer attached. A small third lens can also be caried in the front pouch too. Also the bag and camera are matched by name of course!

Cheers.
