Sure free 2 day shipping and a good return policy. However B&H does the same correct? I understand they all have to have the same prices but does anyone throw in any freebies?

Thank you!

well, if you can save $300 on the D4 and pay 3.99 for next day shipping, this is incentive for sure :)

Why buy from Amazon? Because they are an online store with a great reputation that sells a product I want, and they offer free 2-day shipping and have a great return policy.

Is some other reason needed?

I am a prime holder too but why not order from B&H or Adorama etc If they are reputable companies with good shipping times. Are there any bundles out there?

People order from the retailers they want to support.

I, for one, hope Amazon is around in 15 years... I couldn't care less about B&H or Adorama... so I buy from Amazon.

Amazon is open 24/7 where other stores aren't. Some close for weeks at a time which can be frustrating if you don't watch and plan around them.

I use Amazon more and more as it is very convenient, but I also noticed some of my recent paper and equipment orders come from Adorama which is one of their secondary suppliers. If the big 3 don't have an item, I can usually resort to a Google dealer search and the phone and locate something somewhere. Many seem to give up after the first three major on-liners say "Backordered."

Unless you live in the NY area, what's the difference between AMZN & BH/Adorama? It's all mail-order anyhow and in-house expertise/service is probably not something the buyer is availing themself to from across the country anyhow.

It's a nice relic of an idea to think of visiting the camera store, but for as much stuff as I've bought from BH/Adorama over the years, I've never been to either. And I'm pre-ordered for a D4 and D800 at AMZN now.

i'm in the Chicago area and buy from Helix or Calumet when it's something that I need help with. otherwise, it's all about efficiency: price, shipping, availablity.

I've bought from Amazon, B&H, and Calumet. It was a toss-up between B&H and Amazon for the D800E, but it was open for pre-orders at B&H first, so I went with them.

If shipping of the D800E is delayed by their closing for Passover, I will be disappointed and more likely to use Amazon in future.

Love Amazon Prime for other things from bathroom sinks to eneloops.

B&H will give you a price guaranty for a couple of weeks. Amazon will not. B&H has much better customer service. B&H recognizes customer loyalty.

Amazon has a 12 month interest free which is nice for those that would normally put this $3K purchase on a revolving CC. If I decide not to pay cash this would be another nice option.

You don't usually need a price guaranty from Amazon.
I bet most of the time B&H is price-matching.... it's with Amazon.

If you want it faster, 2-day shipping to match Amazon still makes it cheaper overall. B&H is my go-to place for photo gear if I'm not buying local.

Yeah, only when something goes down after you bought it...

Amazon says tough luck, B&H says "Here's the difference"

Well, Amazon doesn't control the pricing from all their online sellers.

The point was they're usually the cheapest place in town... which is why B&H would be matching them. If they even allow it.

I've purchased many things from Amazon, but the majority of my camera gear from B&H.

All things being equal, I'd much rather buy my gear from B&H. It's more about after sales support, more real people to talk to should I have any issues, and the fact that I'd rather not see quality pro photography shops like B&H and Adorama be put out of business by online conglomerates like Amazon, which is exactly what happened with bookstores like Borders and countless family run local shops.

These are just a few reasons why when it comes to photography and video equipment, I will continue to purchase from B&H.

Again, until it goes down in price. Read the unhappy customers on Amazon boards under price adjustments. Prices fluctuate all the time on Amazon. If you paid for an item that amazon subsequently marks down they tell you to F' off. B&H happily returns the difference.

Hey, I use Amazon and I am a Prime member, but I know what I am getting and not getting... and When a camera like the D700 gets marked down by $500 Amazon is going to say tough Fergus and B&H is gioing to say here is your $500.

I know I have benefitted from it - Here is another example:
