I am not ready to call this an issue yet. Have had the camera for a week. Slowly "testing".

First use of EXR. Took 2 pics of a row of hi-rise condos appx. .25 miles away. Took 2 pics of a large bridge 2 miles away. I used EXR HR Priority & EXR DR-Priority on each subject. As I walked back to the house a small plane flew over and I took a pic of it. (all images RAW). I then turned the camera off and went into the house and put the card in the reader and started SilkyPix. The new images weren't there. I have a USB 3.0 reader which acts up so I disconnected it (using the proper Windows procedure) and started over. Same result. So I put the card back in the camera, new images not there. When I took the pics, I saw nothing odd, saw the image "freeze" in the EVF and saw the processing LED on. Went back outside and repeated the process. (except for the small plane) This time all was normal. Pics there and ok. Repeated the process. Again no images. Tried 6 more times and all was ok. I have a weak theory. I was using a 16 GB card that contained several images from my HS10. {not close to being full) The HS30 manual implies that this is ok?? (The HS30 Id's images from another camera with a "gift box" icon.) I formatted another 16 GB card with the HS30 and have ran many EXR tests since with no issues. Using both RAW and M, F JPEGS .

For experienced EXR users, have you had this issue? For new HS30EXR users, run some tests.
My firmware is 1.0.

The first thing I do when I buy a new camera is format the card within the camera. You would not have these problems if you did so. There have been problems like this before, not just with fuji cameras, but with others as well, and formatting the card within the camera almost always solve it, Good luck with your new camera! It does look like a winner (might be better than a XS-1).

Your images might be there but the software cannot recognise it.
Use explorer to see into the folder itself.

If it's there, then try Picasa.

Had the same thing happen with both the HS10 and the HS20.

You must always format the cards with the camera and never with the PC. There are slight variations in the format process that a unique to Fuji alone and also between generations of Fuji cams as well.

Its even more frustrating than that too. I've taken a Fuji formatted SD card in to my son's work where they have a HP print kiosk to do some prints. You cant do this, HP will not recognise several of the latest models of the FUJI's particularly the HS and X series.

The other thing you will notice is how much faster the camera writes to the card. I saw a 40 to 50% increase in write time's after formatting the SD card with the camera. I also swapped to the class10 cards as they seem to be consistently more reliable.

Fuji HS20EXR
Fuji HS10,
Pentax K1000, Pentax sf7, Pentax zx-50

Formatting a card in the HS30 seems to have fixed the issue.
