Why $3500?

Why $3500?

http://www.oanda.com/currency/historical-rates/

In the heading Currency I Have, select US dollars

In the heading Currency I Want, select Japanese Yen.

In the heading Range, select five years.

Now you see what the US dollar has done (dropped badly), and the reason the 5DIII is priced at $3500. In fact the price of this camera in Japan is less than the price was in Japan for the 5DII.

Wasn't the Mark II around $3400 when it first came out in 2008? $100 more doesn't seem that much more to me especially in 3 and a half years.

It could be that Nikon is losing money on every D800 sale to attract Canon users.

You summed it up exactly when you said "3500 is too much for people who dont earn a living from taking pictures"

To a pro 3500 is not even a factor, its paid off in 2 jobs, but the amazing features of this camera are.

Simple, Canon priced the camera before they knew what the price of the Nikon would be, now they will come to their senses and will lower the price.
Of course they will charge more for their lenses to make up for it.

People these days are way too spoiled. You think that the price doesnt pay for the MASSIVE amounts of R&D required since the digital age arrived? Or the fact that they have already started to research and bulid the next model, which will be even better?

. These companies are pretty much inventing new cameras every couple of years. Photographers these days have massive choice and access to unimaginably awesome technology, but all some people can say is "its crap because it doesnt have a flash" or whatever.

There was pretty much only one major devleopment in SLR technology over the last 50 years, and that is Autofocus. these days almost every new model has a groundbreaking new feature. And thats what your paying for. And the Equation is simple. If the MK3 is too expensive, get a cheaper and as equally amazing camera.

canon knows there are people silly enough to buy a over price camera having

150,000 shutter clicks and only 1 mp improvement and auto focus thank god for that

as for better iso ..not really..very soft and mushy looking compare to nikon d800

which has 50,000 shutter click than canon and top it all of 500.00 plus tax more than d800 36 mp sensor that out performs canon 22 mp sensor
