Stop buying legacy lenses

I agree the 2X crop is ok with a 50/1.4 because you get a 100mm f1.4 great for portraits or candid and closeups

But most legacy of short focal length just dont work
ie a 28/3.5 etc

For most the 2X crop make no sense and is not useful

The new Pany and Oly primes make far more sense they AF and are fast + sharp to boot.

I simply would not buy any legacy lenses.
28 f3.5 is 56 on a MFT and don't think that focal length works? Never heard of the 55mm Takumar or the 58mm Biotar?
This proves my point: that those who deny legacy lenses are either photo illiterates or lack imagination.

BTW it's not that there is a clear barrier between legacy lenses and MF lenses that are still produced today like the CV, the Leica, etc

In fact new models by Cosina prove the opposite: that m4/3 had a positive influence over MF lenses reappearance, another being the new Japanese Sonnetar.

Some might not like the artisan, hand made side of those lenses, and prefer industrial grade, soulless kits. Others will delight in them. In fact it's not very different from knowing places to eat :)

I think you should know that the 105/2.8 might be a legendarily sharp macro that sets the standard for lenses in its category, but it lacks the unquantifiable dimensionality and Leica-ness that Leica lenses bring to the table. You should sell me yours for a couple hundred.

Stop! Why stand around manually focusing?

The new autofocus lenses are so much more fun to use. Hardly any missed shots anymore.

The newer lenses are designed for digital, older lenses were designed for 35mm film, not the smaller sensors used now. Your only using the center part of the lens. It may be sharp, it may not be.

Wouldn't you rather have an Oly 45mm? So cute, so small, and designed for the "New Age"? Or the 12mm? I mean really.....
Ooops. Why didn't you tell us earlier? I just bought myself a new toy and started to enjoy it. If I only knew... My new toy: Canon FD 28mm/f2

That defines you very well as a sorry character feeding on others' sorrows, down to calomny. BTW I-69 is not suited to NEX, it doesn't cover the image circle.
Half frame (the format used by the Chaika camera for which the I-69 was made) = 18 x 24 mm
Diameter of image circle = 30 mm

APS-C (NEX) = 15.6 x 23.4 mm
Diameter of image circle = 28.12 mm
Caught yet talking about things you don't know.
Intellectual embarrassment can be rather painful, especially when it is of the magnitude you regularly manage, so I can understand why you seek the psychological comfort of denial. But to save yourself further anguish, I suggest you get Grandseller to set you up with a Chaika body to go with your Industar. That way you wouldn't have to bother with the complex world of MFT and digital photography that gives rise to your difficulties. ;)
Rudeness = ignored.
Quite. ;)

Thanks. I think the potential to enjoy photographic equipment and the unique experience and results offered has not suffered because of the introduction of new droolworthy technology. Perspective is the Achilles heel of the mind and especially when you can only see your own.

Cheers,
Seth
