I purchased the A77 kit a couple weeks ago and was quite happy. I then noticed a couple of hot pixels in the EVF and decided to return it to Amazon. I received the replacement kit. I tested the body with the 16-50MM lens from the original kit along with 2-3 other lenses I have. All seemed good.
Then I tested with the 16-50MM that came with the replacement lens kit. This is not so good. In the top LCD screen it displays 'Lens'. When attempting to press the shutter button, the display on the back shows, 'Check the lens attachment. If the lens is not supported, you can permit use of the lens in the custom menu'. The next thing I noticed is that when using the camera menu, it is very sluggish and the 4-way stick is not always responsive when navigating the menu. This is not the case with any of the other lenses attached. I then decided to do a factory reset on the camera. Same results.
The camera seems fine with all other lenses, including the original kit 16-50mm lens. I'm thinking there is a problem with this 16-50mm lens that came with the new replacement kit. Has anyone else seen this? I really don't want to have Amazon replace this again. They certainly won't until they get the first one back (already en-route to them). I really don't want to send a new ,never used lens back to Sony for 'repair'. Besides telling me I should have been happy with a couple of hot pixels, any other suggestions of something to try?
Thanks in advance!
