a77 6400iso

Looks like a bit over processed but still very nice. Wonder if multi stacking would have helped?

There's very little visible noise, but maybe the noise reduction here is a little too heavy, in my opinion. Some textures (like faces and hair) look extremely smooth and a little unrealistic.

I personally would have left some noise in to retain detail.

I agree. Sometimes a little grain doesn't hurt, and the a77 has a nice grain pattern at high iso when downsizing the images. It would add some ambient to the image.

I agree with you completely. That was what I meant by being over processed. Here's another pic taken through my storm door at night only light was flashing lights from police car. It was pp and 1.4 teleconverter was used and then cropped. Nothing special but I thought it wasn't to bad under the circumstances. Not trying to say it's a great low light pic but useable. Any comments welcome.

It's useable, at a small size, as a quick snapshot for the web. But when you enlarge the image a little, you can see the heavy noise reduction destroying any detail. Better if shot in raw, then processed and cropped to taste. Maybe the multistack iso could deliver better results, too.

The built-in teleconverter may be useful, but with low ISO, as it only allows jpg.

I think this type of heavy NR looks like small sensor compacts and doesn't show the true potential of the a77 sensor, which is not bad at all, unlike some people says.

All these a77 high ISO threads are attempting to turn the a77 into what it is not. If I had bought the a77 I could have accepted that and use it for what it is good at. The a77 could be many things but it is not a high ISO camera
