In 1987 I spent $200 for an Apple Extended II keyboard. I LOVE this keyboard. It has the best touch of any keyboard that I have ever used. I have babied it along and added a Griffin USB> ADB convert to continue using it quite successfully with my old G4/400. Its just getting broken in, and I don't want to part with it.

Along comes my new dual 867 w/Superdrive and a brand new Apple (pseudo) Pro keyboard. Lo and behold... this keyboard has a brand new key... Drive OPEN/CLOSE.

So I hook up the old Apple Extended keyboard. Everything works...EXCEPT I CAN'T OPEN THE SUPERDRIVE!!! I'm reading in the manual that "older" keyboards can open the drive with F12 (or option F12). No joy. CANNOT OPEN THE DRIVE!!!

I must be missing something. How do I get the damned thing to open without the keyboard???

TIA,
STanton

There is a "Eject" button you can put on your screen
find it in a folder called "extra" or "extras" I believe.
OK. I'll look for it.

Thanks,
Stanton
Don't know if you still need it, but here is the location " System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras"

just drag the folder called "Eject.menu" to the menu bar area.
