Can someone help me. I was at the beach on a very sunny day trying to use a wide angle lense where it involved seeing through the monitor. But the day was so sunny the I could see nothing thought it. Can you purchase a sheild to cover the monitor or what do you do in such occasions.

I found myself shooting blind and hoping for the best. With the regular lense there was no problem because I did not have to use the monitor.
Thanks for any help I can get

um you could try using your "hand"...

I actually use a favourate ball cap to take wide angle pix...no problemo :)

If you think its bad seeing a "screen" on a sunny day try using a 4x5 view camera.....

Hi Deena,

You need the Xtend-a-View Pro combination sunshade/loupe. They are manufactured by PhotoSolve in California. PhotoSolve is presently closed for a brief period while the CEO recovers from surgery. They will be open soon or you can also order this product from Eagle Eye in the UK. They ship worldwide. Here are the links to both....

Nikon just delivered care packages in Canada . All hoods , rings , odd cables, lens hoods and screen hoods. No Tele lens for 5700 yet..but ur-e8 aplenty.

Screen hoods even for the 2500 :)...also ur-e6 and other lens adapters.A very odd looking hood for the 5000 looks like it might do a 995
maybe more to come.....

You can make one out of the PavaVue3 slide viewer.
It costs $2.99 us and the velcro is cheap and it also has
a 2x loupe lens built in to it.

But you cal always spend $30 on one if you like.

They'll both work the same and accomplish the same.

Hi Johnny,
They both "work" - but they don't both "work the same and accomplish the same."

The Xtend-a-View Pro is made of high quality anodized aluminum with a high quality glass optic and attaches in several ways including a swing-away mount made by Eagle Eye in the U.K. It also has a rubber eyecup available and can use a lens cap. The Panavue slide viewer is inexpensive plastic and has a cheap plastic lens which has no provision for either an eyecup or cap.

Though the PanaVue will work as a sunshade and loupe, it's in no way comparable to the Xtend-a-View or Nikon's own version. When you need the LCD for precision focus for digiscoping, etc., the differences are all too apparent.

Best regards,

Lin
