Not much action on the users groups about the camera. I bought it like a month ago and love the compact size. I have also a d300s which is monster but this one is fun to just carry on all the time.

I bought a refurbished D3000 for my wife and she really likes it. I wanted her to have a camera that has excellent color JPEGs right out of the camera, and this forgiving CCD sensor camera fits the bill. I use theher D3000 occasionally and find the focus system is surprisingly advanced for such an inexpensive camera. The only downside is shadow/high ISO noise, but given enough light, this camera shines and is capable of superb images.

Best regards,
Jon

There's no talk about it here because it's a great little camera...

No focus-, mirrorslap, oilspots, battery and what not problems, just fantastic pictures from that good old (stay below ISO 800) CCD. I use it more often than my D90

Yes exactly, I was about to reply with the same thing. When I got my D3100 i noticed that lack of posts regardig that camera in comparsion to the D90 and D7000, then I realized that 80% (really rough estimate) of the posts are some sort of complaints. Unfortunately while a great source for information forums such as this one (and I mean all online forums, not just photography in particular) are a hotspot for complainers. It seems to me that most people who are happy with their items will rarely go online and share their experiences. Few may go to a forum such as this to ask a question to learn something new, and in most cases it is phrased in the form of an attack on the product while it is user error. I really enjoy reading the more educational posts as well as vewing the many beautiful pics that get posted (the really nice people shots, challenge entries, and really nice places... not the ones of underxposed/HighISO/out of focus shampoo bottles/jars/beer cans/focus charts)

Likely the reason you dont see many D3000 and D3100 posts is that they are entry level model, meaning that the people who get it are either rational and taking time to learn, or dont have a clue what they are doing and never take it out of auto mode. Compare to DSLR newbie with ambition who blows 3K on a D7000 with a couple of high end lenses will have a plethora of complaints since he/she would expect the world while the probem is the user (there may be a few legitimate defect compaints once in a while, but really people, enough focus charts)
