Does yours have a serail number stamped on the lens? I have recently acquired this lens new from a UK supplier. Both the box and the Guarantee card bear an identical serial number for the lens but I am unable to find it marked anywhere. I have to wonder if I have a fake copy! If your bears a serial number could you please post a picture showing where it is placed on the lens. The lens is due to go back to the supplier tomorrrow for checking the bayonet fitting as there is slight "play" when fitted to my D7000.

Yes it does, it is very close to the mouunt at about the 7 o'clock position when looking at the lens from the back end.

Remember, it's not the CPU that's in your camera that makes great images, it's the one located about 4" behind the viewfinder that does.

sorry to rehash an old thread, but I couldn't locate it either, even after you hinted the 7 o'clock location. Finally, the s/n is not on the barrel, but located on the aperture ring at 8 o'clock.
