This is my second Nex5N I have bought from Amazon that has frozen up on me..I love this camera and I will send it back but kinda afraid to order another one but probably will.

What has happened is it is working normally and when I go to review the pic it just displays a black screen and I cannot get it back to work til I take the battery out. Then, I take another pic and the same exact thing happens.I'am so disgusted.Anyone got an ideas?? I did try a total reset but it did not help...any suggestions before I box this up and send it back would be appreciated.

How many SD cards did you experience this with?

En-Ee-Ex-5 * 16 * 18-55 * 55-210 * CV 35 1,4

Doesnt sound like the camera. Sounds like your SD card is not keeping up with the camera. Make sure you have a fast card and that it isn't faulty. After 2 cameras in a row, the common factor is the card.

I too have learned from your pain. Thank you kimosabe

I have gotten my 5N since Thanksgiving. While I like 5N a whole bunch, I have ran into several hiccups as well.
  • LCD goes white in shooting when scenes change between very black to very white. But this one can be corrected in powering off and then on
  • Fail to power on after dis-mount of the provided flash. This can be addressed by removing the battery and load the battery again
I want to get some assurance in trying to purchase an extended warranty. I should have thought of this in purchase of 5N but I wonder if any forum member knows if extended warranty can be bought from Sony to extend from 1 to 2 or 3 years. When I look up for warranty in BHPhoto, I can only see 3 year warranty for Digital Camcorder and I doubt it that will work for 5N. Any suggestions are very welcome.

Cheers,
Hin

I love B & H, Amazon & several others (to buy product) but DO NOT buy any of their warrantys.

Simply go to Sony within 30-60 days & you can buy up to a 4 year with accidental/ over use warranty for the same price as all the others!

Actually do this with any piece of electronics - buy from an authorized retailer , then go the Manufacturer for their warranty.

But if you are one that wants to learn the hard way (like myself) go ahead & buy it from the retailer then watch what happens when you really need it! I turned my 2 & 1/2 year old $1,500.00 body Sony A700 (with the best 4 year Best Buy warranty) into a $538.00 store credit!

Thanks for your inputs and I will prefer the warranty from Sony than those from the stores.

Thanks,
Hin
