Hello Folks haven't been on here in awhile since the R1 Days. Just picked up a HX100V and it bothered me I couldn't put a UV filter on the Lens no Threads and all. I googled it and found a seller on ebay in I think Poland that makes a custom adapter that fits tightly over the end of the lens, he even has a youtube video on his auction that shows how easy it is to install and use you can leave it on permantly no need to remove and he also sells a nice looking butterfly lens hood that attaches similarly like the F717 hoods attached, quickly cliping onto the end of the lens.

OK onto my question. If you were to put this on the HX100 wouldn't the extra weight of the filter and hood damage the zoom motor and or damage the lens due to significant more wear on the lens going in and out. From what I understand the adapter is made from a plastic so it doesn't weigh that much but the filter does and the hood does, but in all if it won't harm the camera it looks like a great idea, wish Sony would have added a threaded mount but hey they didn't and if I need to not use a filter I can I do own a H20 and it is the same way.

Here is his auction page take a look.

Thanks in Advance.

no such problems.

if you had searched (even a little bit) then you would have seen that so many people on this forum are using different types of adapters+filters without any problems.

in my view telemach's adapter is best option unless you want to make your own by yourself.

Thanks glad to be back, You know I purchaed a A100 a year after release and loved it. I wanted a A700 but could never find one in my price range, new that is. I have decided to get a A77 but I need to save up for the purchase. I figured either a new lens or a new camera well I loved and still love my R1 but I want video and all the new tech to go with it and the camera I kept coming back to for purchase was the HX100. I have the Sony H20 was used mainly for a carry around or back up to the A100 while out on excursions. I have gotten tired of lugging lenses around and this Christmas I am fly north and wanted something smaller than my DSLR bag to haul onto the plane. So there you go. I will pick up a A77 later but for now I will greatly enjoy using the HX100 when I find the time between work, mainly special occasions, vacation and weekend camera. I wish they would make a R2 but I know that will never happen. I love my R1 even after my DSLR purchase I kept going back to it for Birthdays and Holidays I would use the H20 for Birthdays and such but I did enjoy taking it north one year and recording video. The Video looked as good as a had camcorder or at least pretty damn close. So I know I will love the HX100.

Sorry for the Rant.

Thanks for the Info

Just got off the Phone with Sony and they told me I could use it but it would void my warranty. At least for the warranty haveing to do with the Lens or Lens Motor and any attached components that may be affected. I guess it has to do with the zoom motor life or something like that and that they will be able to tell if to much wait was place on the lense in a certain direction do to misuse or using a adapter not approved for the camera. So I guess my Cam goes naked. I never used a fitler on the H20 and it took great shots. I can always use Photoshop to add filters. Looks like a Great Idea but not going to rick the Investment on it though. All of my Cameras I own still work even the oldest ones I am not about to ruin that run now.

What is funny is if they decided to come out with a adapter.

I wonder why they can't make an adapter that doesn't attach to the lens but to the outter part of the lens which is metal and mounted to the body. Just a thought then this would never add weight or in no way interfere with the lens itself.

Just my Opinion
Thanks
