I sold a a55 body to buy an a77 - and found that most of the raw converters I used no longer handled the new arw file...

which raw converterss have you successfully used with a77 arw files ?

I have tried paintshop pro x3, x4 and there still are problems ( strange grey, dull, green film over the arw files )

acdsee pro 4 and 5 don't recognize a77 raw files ( won't display them )

dxo pro elite 6 hasn't got any module for a77 ( I have read somewhere that you had to edit the files in an hex editor so that dxo will read them, but nobody has give the steps to follow do that..

photoshop elements 10 ( lightroom 3 ) with new raw converting plug in does talk with arw files

so does silkypix developper studio

raw therapee does recognize arw from a77

fastone viewer 4.0 does recognize it too

any other solutions?

thanks

They will get there eventually. I used the Adobe DNG converter for a while with my A55 because I bought it "too soon". Lightroom and ACR already support the A77 raw. Or of course use whatever comes with the camera.

adding to what I said above

photoshop elemnt doesn't seem to handle the files correctly : I checked the colours in Sony Data Converter, Fastone raw therapee and the photoshop element 10 colours look pale, dull and ddo not look like the original.

thanks, i just downloaded a trial version and it works with arw files, much better than elements 10

Yes indeed, I'll biding my time, the sony converter does work -at its own s.l.o.w pace!

that is good morning news for me, thanks! I love acdsee and version 5 is really fast!

I guess it would, as it was said to be one of the best software for a900! thanks

DxO assures me that a77 support is coming "soon." They added that sometimes coming releases are not posted on their site "for commercial reasons" and that a77 support "requires a new release of the main software."

Ok, thanks for thee dxo prospect!

Sorry - duplicate post

Has anyone tried LightRoom 3.6? Does this improve the processing compared with 3.5?

I took the a photo from the A77 shot at !SO 1600 and converted it using both Adobe's DNG coverter and then Apples new raw converter for the A77. The dng file appears to me to show a lot more chroma noise when you zoom in. These are a little more than 100% crops shot under tungsten light with AWB setting. No post processing done on either, just converted into jpegs from Aperture. the first one is the dng conversion.

Apple updated their RAW package to 3.9 as reported earlier today on dpreview's homepage. i just updated my system and then downloaded the a77 RAW samples from dpreviews a77 studio test shots to compare them to their a900 RAW test shots.

Using Apple Aperture, I see no color deviations or other probs which would appear as a faulty RAW default profile. Well done Apple!

with regards to a77 image quality, it appears the a77 dpreview shots are a tad less exposed, the HI ISO shots get even noisier when adjusted to the same brightness of the dpreview a900 shots.

I have test phase one. It is fast, it does recognize a77 arw but, I guess not the picture styles ( vivid in my case used ) and the colours look dull, as they do in elements. Only sony image data converter and fasstone view display image correctly so far. Hope acdsee comes fast
