Why all the hate?

I think what Sigma Germany did is kitsch, but I don't hate anyone. I say good luck selling this limited edition... there will be a few people out there who will buy it because it's unique - and hey, one day it might quadruple in value.

... And welcome to all the folks from other forums. It's really sweet of you-all to drop by. xx

I think there's a bit of hate or rather 'schadenfreude' in all of this, simply because we have all/almost all lost faith in Sigma and the dream of the phantastic Sigma camera based on Foveon. The hope is that some other manufacturer will take over the Foveon chip and realize the phantastic camera very soon. Sigma is not going to make it and this wooden camera is a superficial mascarade - and it's hiding, trying to hide the problem - there will be no acceptable affordable welfunctioning camera from Sigma in the future.

So I guess we all say: Sigma pass the chips to the next one in line. But is there anyone in the line?

Hi Ole, old friend,

I think the 'schadenfreude' theory is a reasonable one. For the future viability of my investment (modest) in Sigma bodies and glass, I'd very much like to see the technology and the brand flourish. I don't have the mad money to go around changing horses very often. And even at the mythical $2k (US) price, I doubt I could really justify spending that money any time soon when I'm not keeping the SA7, SD9, and SD14 very busy as it is. But it was nice to dream, "ahhh". But in the worst of all worlds (for me, anyway) the demise of SA based bodies with Foveon or derivative sensors, I'd eventually migrate to something else - with my hopes for the Sigma/Foveon evolution dashed. My Minolta bodies and glass sit unused as I speak along with Dad's Mamya and lenses, and so on. "Things" are temporary cosmologically, spiritually, and increasingly technologically.

Best,

Hello Ole,

(we may know each other since several years.) Your are right with your thoughts and feelings, just right. And I myself am sad, and tired and frustrated.

Thank you for your - calm, sober, pinpointing - words.
