I recently bought the 30mm lens, and it came with lens stand, which looks like some sort of pedestal with an indent to put your lens in. It's completely circular except for this hotshoe looking bit on one end of it. The manual doesn't state what it's for, does anybody else have any idea what it's for?

Its just a nice stand to place your samsung glass/samsung flashes. I find it a nice touch actually to have something like that.

I think you're asking what the notch in the side of the stand is, not what the stand itself is for (I hope!).

I was wondering the same thing - it made me wonder if there's some kind of really cool lens accessory that I don't have that would fit in that space!

My speedlights also come with stands, but since they're able to be controlled wirelessly they serve a purpose. I doubt that the larger lenses like the 50-200mm come with stands, so maybe they were added to the pancake lenses because they're less likely to topple over when mounted on a tiny plastic stand, and it gives Samsung a justification to put the lens in a slightly larger box. <cough>

I was wondering what the notch is.

Here's a picture of it:

The pedestal's notch appears to be designed for Samsung's flashes, which my SEF20A's hot shoe slides into. The circular depression in the center of the pedestal is just the right size for the back end of Samsung's lenses, so it appears that the pedestal was intentionally designed for this double-duty purpose. It's interesting/puzzling that paulhome mentioned that the pedestal was also supplied with the 50-200mm lens. I don't know if he has one, or just assumed that this is so. My 50-200mm didn't come with a pedestal and the side of its box shows that it contains a lens, a drawstring pouch and a lens hood, but no pedestal. Maybe Samsung has different lens accessories for different markets.

We use the same stand for the lenses and flashes.
