Hi, i've been using the Canon 7D with kit lens 18-135 for a while now, and have achieved some good shots

{i might add some shots in if i can work out how to upload and post}

Anyway i'm looking for a new lens, better lens as i find the shots need a fair amount of sharpening or clarifying currently with unfortunate CA a lot of the time.

So next year i'm planning to travel during uni, maybe the year after and i was planning for a lens for then but possibly now so i could test it out. Between mainly a macro prime or a wide angle lens, but by the sounds of things both would be appropriate.

I like IS as i don't like tripods ha, i like to take a shot and move on, i like the idea of a USM focus as currently focusing is slow and i do a lot of wildlife specifically koi photography.

i also currently work with a 67mm lens so 67mm would be easier to transfer filters to, but of course its not a main concern

my current shortlist as as follows:

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro Lens
Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM ??

obviously i don't mind other brands but i just went straight to canon because it was easier

so what does everyone recommend; i thought i could use the prime for the sharpness of landscapes and nature just step back etc, but the wide angles for landscapes and general shots avoiding fisheye and large tele zooms, i'm not a cannon ha

any suggestions would be great

i'm looking tbh as cheap as possible but i saw the canon 100m macro at £445 so around that range i would accept as long as i get a fair amount for the price.
bang for buck

The Canon 100mm macro at 445 (if it's new) is not the IS one - that one is 780 odd. (They have two 100's, a IS USM and a USM no IS).

I think you'd find the wide zooms useful:

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM - No IS? You might not need it, generally wide landscapes done at f8, in bright overcast, but the 2.8 below allows for dusk shots..

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM ?? Better lens, L series, but not as wide as the 10-20.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro Lens A lot better lens than the 60, but dearer. also, 100 is nice for portraits.

Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro decent, cheaper than the 100.

The 10-22 is best choice . the 16-35 is old , still good , the main things besides being better lenses are macros allow closer focusing and the 100 has IS [ new model ] for landscape the 10-22 is fine . I would look at one of the 70-200 tho .

obviously i also have to consider everything is x1.6 with the 7d to the 60mm macro become 96 and the 100mm 135, 10-22, 15ish to 35

I'm thinbking myself of going for 16-125 (or close numbers) and 100-400 in Canon.

I had a look through the site - I'd be worried it's all genuine at those prices.

My speedlight 580EX II was 370 pounds, he has it for 190. That's just not possible for genuine UK stuff.

If it's China shipped, note that most stuffm won't have UK warranty on it!
That IS a great price.. mine was over 700 only 3 weeks ago!!
Sorry to link hit you but http://www.photostore123.com/lenses/canon-1/canon-ef-100mm-f28l-macro-is-usm and i like myself a good deal ha, the only reason i considered it was because it was so cheap compared to to 1000 RRP.

thanks fro the reply i'll have a think

So not to dishonour you i should get it then so you don't feel bad about this ludacris deal ha , hopefully if i can gather the money i will

this is true but i surf ebay quite a lot and find genuine products like retail brands clothing etc for much cheeper prices purely because it cuts out the middle man so it can be cheaper, but i understand what you mean -- i do get a silver eos membership thingy that replaces and fixes any damaged canon product along with serial no. so that could work. still you'd soon tell if it was a fake product so you could contact etc
