What lens do u think are missing? (I know there is no macro lens)

The $300 8-400mm f1.2 collapsable pancake.
That would be a winner for Sony.

from some reason post always devolve into this sort of thing...

I was asking bc I want travel style lens, so I thought I might of made too many smaller lens for the lineup.

There is a picture of the upcoming medium telephoto lens in the picture below. Can you guess what the focal length / aperture it is going to be. I originally thought we'd see an 85 f/1.8 but this lens looks really big so perhaps it's not an 85 (maybe a 135?)

I know everyone is caught up in the nex-7/5n and 24mm Zeiss right now but I would like to ask about the future of the nex lens prime line up and as sony has yet to give us an updated roadmap thought I would make my own mockups. If all the lens below were made I would bet it would take 5+ years for them all to come out.



(Left to right 12mm 5.6 rectilinear , 14mm 2 rectilinear, 16mm 2.8, 18mm 2.8, 24mm 1.8, 30mm 2, 50mm 2.8 (collapsed) then expanded, 50mm 1.8 oss, 60mm 2, 70mm 2.8 oss, 85mm 1.4 oss, 135mm 2 oss.)

I tried to accommodate ever consumer group.
$800+ 3 Zeiss lens 18, 24, 60.
4 consumer grade/price $250-400 16, 18, 30, 50 1.8, 85mm 2.8 (shown as 1.4).
3 specialty small prime lens $500-800 12, 50 2.8, 70.
2 telephoto lens 85mm (I would change to 2.8) and 135mm 2

What lens do u think are missing? (I know there is no macro lens)

What lens would you buy that are shown? (Put in your subject line (I would go with the 12, 30, 70))
Are there any lens you question why they would be made at all?

(the 18, 30, 50, 60, 70, 85 and 135 are true demos of how big/small the lens could be. Also the 1st Zeiss in the line is labeled wrong. 18 instead of 14)

it looks to be 26mm longer (not including the filter ring) then the 50mm 1.8. so I would also bet its a 85mm (cant tell the f-stop as it is not only dependent on front element size.) But it could be as long as 100mm.

Those are mock-ups. If you notice the final lenses look different. My bet is there was no working glass in any of those. This is common will all lens makers and mock-ups.

Yeah - but all the lenses that exist are similar to the size/look of the mockups. This was released before the 24/50 were announced and the real lens looks similar. With that we can deduce that the mid telephoto will look similar to the mockup shown here and that gives us an idea of the type of lens it will be. After some thought, I'm guessing it could be an 85 f/1.8 or maybe a 135 f/2.8. But really it's just a guess..

I don't know, both the 30 macro and Zeiss 24 ended up being bigger than those mockups.

Sign me up for one of them 30-35mm's with OSS. I'd rather have a longer lens with OSS than a shorter without.
