1st stage (prerelease) - Euphoria
Expectation, nay, certainty that the soon to be released camera will be a world shaker and will therefore - which is the most important of all - "kill" "Canikon".
Obviously owning a camera is a very competitive thing and philosophers of the past were quite wrong: it's not the quality of the soul (antiquity) nor the material surroundings (Marx) or what one eats (Feuerbach) that define the individual - it's what is printed on the prism hump of the camera one carries around (or not).
2nd stage (postrelease) - Disappointment
Turns out expectations were maybe a bit high...now instead of visiting the forums of other makers in triumph the poor Sony fan has to suffer the mocking posts of the others (who are relieved that their own God still "rules" after all) in his very own forum - the horror!
3rd stage - Anger
The angry fan confronts his God who has so cruelly abandoned him - not in silent prayer though, his preferred venue is the public forum, his preferred medium the "rant".
4th stage - Bargaining
The fan digs up new samples and presents them to the hostile world - "Aren't those much better?" - "Not really, no..." - "Then what about those?" and so on.
5th stage - Acceptance
Maybe expectations were a little bit high, and yes, maybe I should wait until the camera ships and more thorough test have been made before making a final judgement...
6th stage - Budding Euphoria
After all, le Roi est mort, vive le Roi! - there is always a next camera on the horizon...
