Practically everyone is raving about this lens. Where can I buy this for the quoted price $36-$50? The prices I have looked at ranges from $200- $350. It must be a better 50 mm lens I guess.

Thanks,
Kai

There are 50mm f/1.8 (not f/18) lenses for Canon, Nikon, and Sony. Is your post inquiring about one of those lenses, and if so, which one?

If you want it new you'll have to pay the new price. The very low prices you mention are for older manual focus versions which you might find on Craigslist.

Last time I checked they were at least $100 new and IMO it is the most highly overrated lens out there. It is popular due to price, but if you are on a crop camera it is a very awkward focal length and slow focusing. My advice: Buy it if you need it, but do NOT buy just because everyone says you should.
50 mm f/1.8 lens - Canon - New. Not a big proponent of used items.

I think this is a oft-despised lens, yet it is able to deliver stellar images in the right hands. Sure, it's cheap, has slow focusing, and a challenging focal length; but it delivers on what its meant for - portraiture and general use.

I'm here to learn :)

It's very cheap, but I don't personally like the way it renders out of focus areas - they look a bit ugly to my eye, so try before you buy if you can.
