What abt DX format on a FX body?

I'm planning to use it on holidays, landscapes, portraits, wildlife... just to pair them with my othrt macro 70mm e 150mm and classic 18-55mm lenses.

I just went through this decision process in looking for a walk-around lens for my D60. I eventually settled on the Tamron 18-270mm PZD and after about 4 months and one trip, I remain satisfied. The PZD provided good sharpness and contrast when used at its sweet spot, that is at an aperture between 6.3 and 8. So this means shooting in A mode, pretty much always and being limited to good light or flash. Nevertheless, these limitations suit me. For low light, I change to the Nikon 35 1.8 and for better IQ where I need long reach, I change to the Nikon 10-300 VR.

For all around usage

18-200VRII not the best value but best lense. Money is tight got to save a couple hundred I'd get the Tamron.

Want a fast midrange tele-zoom lense budget aside

70-200 VR the alternatives are not close, between build, VR, etc. Nikon is so much better but a big premium. To think that a superzoom can compete in the 100-200 range with IQ or performance anywhere close to the 70-200 is laughable. It could be you don't need than superzoom, if you are shooting sports low light no way is a superzoom going to cut it.
