Gh2 Moon with 75-300 + 1.7 TC = 2000mm+

Stunning pictures! I don't understand how you are getting that focal length from the gear you mention though. Shouldn't it be more like 300 * 1.7 * 2 (crop factor) = 1000mm 35mm equivalent? Or am I not understanding how the TC works?

The OP is likely referring to a further 2x (approx) post processing crop of the image (a 2000mm lens would approximately fill the frame as shown...I've attempted shots with my telescope and a T mount to K mount with my Pentax cameras, my telescope is about 1200mm, so 1800mm on the aps-c crop and the moon about fills the frame at that focal length).

I do agree these are great - very sharp detail and nice rendering. What TC was used?

The EXIF data is showing A EFL of 1183mm, which would suggest the OP was using the GH2's ETC zoom feature, a 3.9mp crop of the sensor, i use it all the time for moon pics, and a TC with 1.7 would make a EFL of about 2000mm.

Mark.
