the kit lens froze the aperature a few years ago. No way I would by another cheap plastic one. I replaced it with a Sigma 17-70.Noisy or not, it's a great image.
What it taken with the kit-lens by any chance?
I never shoot raw, don't have the time and don't have PP software. The most I ever do is crop and occassional quick fixes with the MS picture manager.I don't find it overly noisey and it is a nice shot. If concerned with noise (and your feelling was that it works in this photo) shoot in raw and work with noise reduction in post processing. LR seems to do a pretty decent job.

thanks. that was my hope.It is a beautiful picture and the noise only enhances the atmosphere of the whole picture, creating aesthetically pleasing pictures for yourself is what photography as a hobby is all about. Tack sharp is not all that its cracked up to be. I think that picture would look great framed on a wall.
Noise? There's hardly any. What does catch my attention however, is that the horizon doesn't seem to be level.thanks. that was my hope.It is a beautiful picture and the noise only enhances the atmosphere of the whole picture, creating aesthetically pleasing pictures for yourself is what photography as a hobby is all about. Let me add something to my comments above. A lot of what is shared on this site is well executed mediocre photography. IMO, this image of yours is significant. It is worlds above average and is a world class image. You should be very proud of it. I'd spend time with the original file, creating more mid-tone contrast and bumping up the light tones much as I have done in my crude attempt at illustration of noise not being an issue with this file. This could easily be a gallery quality image.
