Would you consider this picture a 'lie'?

I mean... who cares? Why would you feel so insecure that you need to dedicate a whole new thread to it? Just make images and be happy with it. I mean seriously... Who cares? It just seems a petty reply to a petty comment and somewhat sad.

It wasn't until I stopped trying to be a PRO that my photography really improved.

Hi Waimak - I cared, he is a close relative and more experienced than me.

I don't think I made any petty comments. I wanted to see what other people thought and it served as yet another learning experience for me :-).

To me photography is the capture of what is in your mind at the time of the capture, I believe you achieved that objective. I wonder how many 'lies' that your relative has captured during past weddings, what was said during the vows may well be a lie nowadays, inserting an ill much loved close relative to the wedding party is often done by many wedding photographers I know, in fact I did it in my film days when it was a lot harder to manipulate the image.

Is this image 'a lie' or just another perspective of what my mind saw.... IMHO what you did, and this image below is taking the image to another level, creativity.

it's fun and that's all that matters.. on a critical note, you should fix the barrel distortion, it's a bit disturbing

So, I created this photo-sequence. Generally, the comments were positive, but one person said that he only uses photoshop to color correct or 'jazz up' pictures that are boring. Anything else is a 'lie'.
He is wrong and lose a lot from life.
Now, does his word really matter to you?

Don't follow the losers.

Some people use paint to paint their houses only, others use it to create expensive paintings and make money from their capability.

Anyway, good job on your multiple blending
Well, I don't know - maybe he's right.. Basically I took several photos over 3 traverses. I chose the best of those photos and included them in the sequence. I was trying to communicate my daughter's wicked athleticism while wearing a dress.
Knowing what my process was, would you say that it is a 'lie'?
Don't worry, I won't be offended if you answer in the affirmative :-).

Rob,

My comments were directed to the OP and the idiot that made that comment to him.
Sorry if there was any confusion.

Richard
I would classify the individual that made that statement too you as "narrow minded" + a few other select things which I'll keep to myself to preserve my account.

Was this in response to me or the Op?

If it was to me I fail to understand your comments. I do suspect you are referring to the individual that told the OP that his photograph was a lie though.

Of course not.

Thirty years ago I took series of pictures exactly like this one, with my first SLR. I was impressed with my little one then, as you are impressed with your doughter now.
And gues what...?
Every time I look at that picture I smile. That was a good time.

That person who made that comment is a relative. He has been a wedding photographer for almost 2 decades.
Perhaps he's jealous because he's stuck shooting stuffy weddings and you're have fun and experimenting. I love your picture and having a son who is equally athletic, you've given me a good idea, although I'll probably do something that's not using monkey bars.

I think that it is obvious to most everyone, that this is obviously the same little girl as she progresses along the bars. I personally don't mind at all that you took the best shots from more than one crossing.

A friend of mine owns a (very expensive) photo from a well-known photographer who takes himself very seriously. That photo shows a field with some fog, and in that fog one can see not just one but several mature male deer. The photo is presented as a "hunter's dream", and every single bourgeois agrees that it is "soooo humorous my dear that he decided to clone those deers in photoshop so many times".

your shot qualifies as much more authentic as far as I'm concerned.

and you have the additional quality of clearly not taking yourself too seriously.

of course the day you become obnoxiously proud of how great you were in your depicting that crossing by a little girl, your photographs will sell in the 5 figures at least... ;-)

I could be wrong, but I thought it would have been one crossing ~ multiple shots and then blended. Perhaps the OP will clear it up. (hint hint)
