Please can anyone suggest the better DSLR of the two Canon T2i & Nikon D3100 for a beginner which is advanced enough for a couple of years.

In the Nikon D3100 review, the sentence that caught my eye was:

"As discussed above, though, if the D3100 has one obvious flaw it would a distinct tendency towards overexposure in bright, contrasty conditions, when its matrix metering is arguably too happy to expose for the shadows and allow the highlights to blow."

What makes this flaw more important, is the fact that the Nikon doesn't have automatic exposure bracketing.

I haven't used either camera, so I don't claim to be an expert on the subject. Both cameras have Pros and Cons.

In the conclusions of the same review, it lists as a con, "Slight tendency to overexpose in contrasty conditions." and give the D3100 their Silver Award.

You could choose either camera and it will give very nice photos. As it has been said ad nauseum, get the one that feels better in your hand, with controls that suit you. Or buy the one that's cheaper, comes in the color you like, or will impress your friends more. :P

+1. Both work, I think you'd be happy with either. Flip a coin if you can't decide, or snatch up the first one that has a good sales price going on. Honestly, having been through the whole stress about every little detail myself, my advice is don't and go with the one that feels better in your hands.

If you do video get the t2i, more customizations and has audio input if you ever plan on using an external mic.

D3100 is more user friendly though (better on-screen help guides)
