I was just talking to this guy,and he said he had a canon 500D and a canon 18-300 lens.

Well i've searched all over the net for this lense and i can't see that one exists, does anyone know if there is such a lense?

Powers weird by mystics taught
No pain,no joy,no power to great
Colossel strength to grasp a fate
Where sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers
Nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold
Man would tear his brother's flesh a chance to die,
To turn to mold."

He misspoke, there is no 18-300 lens, Canon or otherwise. The closest to that are the Tamron 18-270 and Sigma 18-250.

If it's a Canon lens, it's either the old discontinued EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 USM, the massive and expensive EF 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L IS USM, or (most likely) EF-S 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 IS. He might have been thinking of the "35mm equivalent", in which case the EF-S 18-200 is "equivalent" to 28-320.

The only time a smaller sensor with the same pixel count is superior to a larger sensor (aka higher pixel density) is when you are focal-length limited.

considering the camera he has, i'm guessing he has the 18-200 and maybe is doing the aps-c conversion for the long end, which is a bit above 300.
