Hi everyone,

This is crazy!! I attended a webinar with GoToMeeting this afternoon and when I went to "leave" the webinar, GoToMeeting would not shut down!

What I get is a window titled "Session Ending", saying "Leaving Webinar". All it does is cycle visibly on the bar at bottom of the Session Ending window; but I can't leave.

I can't quit the program, can't shut down my computer, can't log out. Quitting Safari does not do it. In my dock, the program shows "quit" which will not work, the program does not even show the ability to "force quit". I also tried to log out under Apple Menu with no luck.

I've been out for dinner and back and GoToMeeting has been doing this since I tried to sign out about 6 hours ago, when the webinar ended.

Can anyone please suggest what to do?

Thanks!!!

Here's the answer incase any new Mac users are stuck...

Press: Command Option Escape. This will allow you to select and force quit an application. In all the time I've had a Mac, I've never had to use this keyboard command, thus, learned it tonight.

Cheers!

Hi,

You can also right-click/control-click the application's icon in the dock and press option/alt to show a Force Quit command.

Hi Dr Chandra,

Very worth knowing, I'll add this to my arsenal :-)

Thanks!

If the above suggestion fails you might hold down the power button for about 8 seconds.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your suggestion, that's always a last resort and good to know as well!

I Googled the answer to this question/problem and you're the only one with an answer that worked (that I could find). Thank you SO much for your help!

You can also force quit an application easily from the Activity Monitor; just select the application (do a search in the Filter textbox if the stuck application isn't directly visible, ie, if it is just further down in the list), click on 'Quit Process' and confirm that you want to force-quit the application. This allows you also to force quit processes that don't have a Dock icon.

Command Option Escape is the last option that can also work if the Dock for example is also unresponsive or if the Finder is unresponsive and you thus cannot launch Activity Monitor. There is nothing wrong with using it as the first option but I find alt right-clicking a Dock icon more convenient.

Really great to know this helped you after all this time! I remember the evening well.

Cheers!

I've had that happen myself, Londongal. I'm sure you've been able to exit the meeting by now (let's hope so), but after Force Quit failed, I unplugged everything for 5 min. I happily use RHUB now and have never had that issue again.
