Hi all

I am thinking about getting a background removal software (must be for Mac). Just wondering what people here use most.

Software I have seen is onOne's MaskPro, Fluid Mask3 or maybe upgrade to CS5 (I have CS4), any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Randall

Depend on the type of image one may be better than the other, they all have strengths and weakness, most of the time I use Vertus and Remask.

Remask is the most cost effective, they all have trials for you to test, but first check their videos tutorial, may found a discount here http://www.plugsandpixels.com/discounts.html

In order of preference:
-Vertus Fluid Mask
-Topaz Remask
-Akvis SmartMAsk
-Digital Film Tools EZ Mask
-OnOne MaskPro
-Primatte Chromakey

I agree with Pictus here.

Fluid mask is the best at the moment, followed by topaz remask.

Some photoshop techniques are sometimes better then all masking tools.

Mask pro has some nice tools, but i prefer fluid mask best if i had to use just the one masking tool.

I have been a Fluid Mask user for years and have yet to try anything that is as consistently good. There is a learning curve but that follows for all the masking software. Take the time to go through the on-line tutorials and practice. I also totally agree with what Pictus and Toermalijn have said.

I've used both of those but I've lately come to prefer Topaz ReMask over all of them.

I've tried Topaz Remask and was not impressed, in fact it caused my Fluid Mask 3 to become inop. I deleted Remask, reloaded Fluid Mask 3, and I'll continue with what works for me. I have CS5 but for wispy hair I can't beat Fluid Mask 3. I'm using W7 Pro, not a Mac.

+1 on all the votes for Fluid Mask. It's not perfect, but IMHO it's the best plugin for masking.
