A cup of coffee

I find it very difficult to catch the steam with the camera. Has you got any advice? It´s easy to make it overcooked in Photoshop.

I should have served some of the fruitcake I realise now.
 
Just some of my crazy ideas:

The steam is blending in with the bokah. IMHO....zoom out...I'd like more depth of field, like in a product shot, so I could see more sharp details of the equipment. I'd like to see closeups of the coffee cake, fruitcake, danish, or what ever. How about a still life of the coffee cup with the dessert? How about a pretty blonde Swedish girl with the coffee and fruitcake? Mmmmmm? ;) It's just my thoughts.

Hi, mate, funny I just made my wife's coffee.

As for the steam, a black background might help.

A dark background definitely works to bring out the steam. Some natural backlighting helps too!
