My stupid wife

Remind me never to get you mad (LOL)
LOL! This thread has been very interesting to read between the lines though. You can tell the approximate age of each poster and whether they are married for any length of time. To this moment I'm sure many still believe that Mr. Nash was disrespecting his wife, not recognizing that he was making fun of himself.

OTOH it is refreshing to see so many folks come to his wife's defense and being annoyed at the wrongly perceived disrespect.

I also found the banter interesting. So many people from all over the world at different ages interacting here almost completely anonomously.

Almost suprising this doesn't happen more often.

Yes, he was trying to make fun of himself and attracting us to read the real contnet of the thread with that title...well, he did it!

I'm 2 and I am sticking with that! :)

You can also tell Mr. Nash is thick skinned. He had to think that there would be some flaming towards him going on with the post.

I took a course in art last winter. I learnt the difference between a fine oil painting, and a mechanical thing, like a photograph. The photograph shows only the reality. The painting shows not only the reality, but the dream behind it.

You’re right: the picture would be more artistic without the mechanism at the far left. I left it there for two reasons.

One reason is the unexpected color changing aspect of the mechanism. Upon exposure to moonlight it changes to yellow from its normal white daytime color, as illustrated below.

The second reason is that this mechanism is a video camera. The ship’s captain told me they installed the camera after the cruise line was sued by the wife of a man who fell overboard. The cruise line won the lawsuit when it was determined that the wife had pushed her husband overboard and furthermore that he was terminally stupid and had only one week to live. It was also proven that the husband’s death was no net loss to the wife.

Here is another example of a peculiar color change. I was at MOMA in NYC in 2002 and took this picture of jet black rubber duckies. In this case the moon was not responsible for the color change but rather the camera (Canon 400D) which is preset to an 18% gold color!

So you camera lays golden ducks???

I'm so glad you replied before I did. You did a great job of saying what I wanted to without the fury.

Cheers!

Andrew
ur pretty stupid for even calling ur wife stupid. and u call her that cuz all she wanted was for you to take a picture on ur vacation and have a nice picture, and u tried to get all technical on her ass... so wat cuz u cant do it, ur wife wont get a picture and is not stupid?, she might as well be better just putting the camera on auto and taking it than having u around.

i hope she knows u posted a thread in her honor
First you learn spelling. Then you learn about punctuation, when to use capitalization and how to put sentences together. Comprehension follows. With comprehension you get to learn how to interpret the written word. After all that you may be successful in recognizing that the form of expression that the OP used here is called irony. He expressed the exact opposite of what he really meant.

Once you understand all that, it's time to read his message again. :)

So did that thing look yellow under moonlight to the naked eye, or just to the camera? I also think it is interesting that the ducks turned golden like that. I guess I would have expected more of a gray or something but I suppose there are other factors such as the light they were reflecting or the 'jet' black actually had some tones in it but looked black as dark as it is. I had a car that looked black in all but bright direct light, then you could tell it was actually brown. Interesting results in your shots anyway. Thanks for sharing.
