One of the things I always image after having a new camera a short while is violas, they are everywhere at my place and I am very fond of them. These images also show the range of the canon 250d achromat on the fz100.

Single fz100 (with b+w uv haze filter and canon 250d achromat) jpgs post processed. Thanks for looking. :)

Lovely, especially #1 warms my heart having -12 C outside today. Also nice to see you back on safe grounds... :-D
Urban, long for yet another spring and summer

--LOL yes Digby you are right old tv and old eyes no more black brown jokes :)

Am I the only one seeing those shots as somewhat underexposed... [??]
... the second one (single bloom) is quite a lot underexposed.. [??]

No, I wondered why #2 was so dark, too. But Digby has his art, and that tends to dark, so I didn't want to seem negative.

In this case, and many others, a bit brighter and a bit more contrast would suit me better - but I'm not Digby! And Digby has established his credentials. ;)

Rembrandt painted similarly.

Nice shots, Digby. That fuzz on the Viola in the last shot looks sparkling and almost crystalline. Very cool!
Sparkling & almost crystalline:

Trichostema lanceolatum, California "Vinegar Weed" (Flower about 6mm.)

Very nice, but I am mildly disappointed. First I wondered what sort of man is this Digby to be surrounded by violas. I mean, how many viola does does anyone need?

And, then, my ever so slow internet connection delivered FLOWERS and not a slightly larger than a violin stringed instrument :)

Baz, there is always a tendency for me to underexpose, often shooting at -1ev or below. The focus in the second was the tummy lining like carpeting either side of the

wonderful orange and milky stamen at the heart of the flower – all else was peripheral.

Thanks putter50! :D That’s the part of this flower that always fascinated me in close up, the tiny soft nodules flowing into very fine glittery white and blue with a beautiful milk and orange centre, so very soft and delicate – even for a hard case like me.

lol and thank you Peg, I see your managing to keep your wit sharp and crisp while enjoying your pacific island paradise. You’ll have to be content with the notion that both Viola (sound or vision) are somewhat Baroque – samples of heaven on earth.
