Dear Mike,
I am assume that you have installed SCA 3202 module. Set the flash to CZ is the best. But if you got corner drop out at wide angle, try setting at 28 mm or use the reflecting card.
I was using ISO 64 setting for a while, but one of our friend here said it should be set to ISO 100. I changed it and got better result (less overexposed shot). If u photograph something near, u might need to avoid direct flash, it would overexposed, or u can lower flash level by -1 to -1 2/3 stop. (if u want to use direct flash to photograph something near, try to use on-board flash. it works better in this case!)
You can use any mode on camera (P/A/S/M) but A mode seems to work best for me. Don't use too narrow aperture because our flash is not that powerful. Try it and you will see. Nevertheless, it's not fully support TTL in all mode. The manual of SCA3202 is said clearly.
Most of my use is boucing it to ceiling. Usually, the result is good (A mode, f/2.8-4). However, sometime u need to compensate the flash strength in your camera setting (+2/3 to 1 stop).
And, Yes! the flash icon on camera LCD is still control the flash for all mode! But once u turn the flash on, u can't cancel it using flash icon (but u can just simply turn the flash off!).
Last thing, Metz 32MZ-3 is not a very 'professional' flash. If you fire the flash in high power too often, it will be fried. Says normal use is fine but if you try to use high power at rate, says, one flash per 10-15 sec for 10-20 minute, I'm sure it will be burnt coz I've done it!
Enjoy now! It's a lot more fun with external flash!
John
Hi John,
Just got my flash! So for no fuss shots, I just set to CZ, TTL and
run it in P/A/S or manual mode? So the flash icon will still
control the flash for all modes on the Metz (ie, flash, flash
cancellation, etc). Any valuable tips?
Thanks! Michael
