Testing out my 50mm 1.8 again..

Anyone have any suggestions or ways to make this a better photo? Still trying to figure things out.

What don't you like about it? I think you could have gotten better composition. Colors seem flat. What pp do you do on your photos?

For my kids, I just shoot and shoot. They might stop to pose briefly, but they don't cooperate much. For example out of 30 shots, I probably only keep about 5 -15.

Once you have good composition, exposure, focus, and good facial expression, then usually the kid photos are keepers. I prefer the kids eyes looking at the camera. Action shots are nice too.

The lower part of her face is a bit to iluminated. Less light would have benefitted the photo. The model is adorable and her look is very endearing. I like the composition for a child pic . It's nice. Colors and contrast are flat and dull because of the lighting. Just my two cents worth. Have a nice one my friend.

Thank you for your advice.. It seems that most feel that the photo looks flat. Do you have suggestions on how to give it some life?

What Picture Control are you using (Standard, Neutral, Vivid, etc.)? Do you experiment with NEF to JPEG conversion in View NX (NX2)? By shooting a raw copy along with the jpg and converting in View NX you can make changes to Picture Controls, White Balance, Exposure Compensation, Saturation, etcetera. Then compare the two jpg's (one from the camera, and the one from View NX). You may be able to discover settings that will please you.
