I like shooting sports and I am currently shooting with a Nikon AF 80-200mm f/2.8 on a D90.
As I often shoots ice hockey at a local rink with really bad lighting, I need a fast lens with all the light I can get. With the current setup, I frequently need to shoot at iso 3200 and f/2.8 to capture the action. However, it still won't work sometimes.
I am looking for a super fast prime at f/1.4 or f/1.8 which may help to deal with the problem. I am considering the 50mm 1.4G, 1.4D, or 1.8D, and also the 85mm 1.4D or 1.8D. One of the major concern is the focusing speed as I find my current lens occasionally had problems following the action. Anyone had experience using the prime lenses for actions shots? Which one will focus quicker?
Thanks.
