Anyone had any luck finding an extra battery for the LX5 at a reasonable price?

I paid $60 for my spare battery from Japan.

They are good batteries, the Chinese can't get within a factor of 2 of the power/weight ratio of the LX5 batteries...

Two and a half hours of LX5 video is good enough to stop me complaining, incidentally. Much better than the one and a half hours from the ZS3 battery...
.

Several of us here have ordered the battery from the Ebay seller (BuyfromJapan). I'm satisfied with it. It's the one that Trevmar posted a pic of (not sure if he bought from the same seller). Another poster here mentions that UK Optics has it in stock, and their pic seems to be of the same battery from Japan.

Yes, I bought the battery and a DCC7 power coupler from Jun at "buyfromjapan." I have dealt with him before, and he has been honest and quick to process my orders.

The DCC7 coupler works well enough, although I much prefer a charger plug in a camera, because that way both the battery and the external power can run the camera. The DCC7 has no internal power, and you lose the movie if your external power source goes wonky. But beggars can't be choosers - we have to take what Panny gives us, I guess.

Samy's lists the battery for $50, but has none in stock. No other U.S. dealer seems to have any. Why is it so hard to get?

The price at the Panasonic National Parts Center (800-833-9626) is $49.95, plus shipping ($8.95 and up) and tax. Unfortunately, they don't expect to have any in stock until Nov. 20. Ridiculous!

I don't understand that either; it is as if they didn't expect anyone would want to purchase a 2nd battery or something?

I got an LX5 battery from UK Optics for £50. It was delivered to a London address within two days of the order. The battery that was delivered with the camera in the USA was DMW-BCJ13PP, the one I got in London was ...BCJ13E. They both work fine, and a Panasonic service rep assured me along the way that the ...BCJ13's are all the same.

They didn't expect to sell alot of LX3 cameras in early 2009 and you couldn't buy any for awhile. High demand, low-to-no stock.

Again, Panasonic is underestimating the market.
