D90 shutter speed question (max sync)

I am trying to set the D90 shutter speed (in Manual or S mode) to 1/200. My choices are... 1/60, 1/90, 1/125, 1/180, then jumps to 1/250. Is there any way to set the shutter speed to 1/200?

If not, why is the max sync rate for flash 1/200?

So if you raise the on board flash while in shutter priority, you can set the shutter speed to 1/250??? If that's the case you have a pretty unique camera....

I am trying off-camera flash and not using the pop-up (radio trigger).

Ah I see. go into the menu, select b1 in custom settings menu and change ev steps to "1/3". All should be good after that.
