Hi everyone,

Desperate for a photoshoot over the Bank Holiday I decided to take a punt at an annual re-enactment fayre with displays and pitched battles featuring Romans, Medieval Knights, Napoleonic Troops, American Civil War and the obligatory WWll bunfight with Russian, British/Allies and **** armies battling it out.

The American Civil War turned out to be the most photogenic due to the large numbers and close groupings.

Although the standout event was the Women's Institute of Crosby who performed the 'Battle of Pearl Harbour' armed only with handbags and hair pulling!

England won 8-0 by the way :D

Glad you were desperate. Because I surely enjoyed the results. I didn't know there was large interest in US Civil War reenactment on your side of the world.

I'm impressed you really captured this superbly..

Good processing too.

Terrific set. The black and white add authenticity to the reenactment. Love the angle of the archer shot.

What, no revolutionary war reenactnent? I didn't know you paid so much attention to the civil war. After all you had already lost the colonies.

OUTSTANDING shots! And a GREAT looking General Lee!

As you can imagine, we have many such reenactments here in the former colony! And, the Civil War era reenactments are always well attended. Down here in the South, folks refer to the Civil War or War Between the States as "the War of Yankee Aggression" and a lot of them still seem to be fighting it and saving their Confederate Money for when the South rises again! :-)

Locally, we have a pretty authentic looking General Lee too (see photos below):

Very nice Steve. The first B&W has a very nice range of tones, perfectly balanced.

Steve,

SIGH ...........You amaze me. Your eye for detail is phenomenal, and your post processing skills are superb. It's not secret you are among my "favorite" photographers, and this post is an example why. I am humbled by you. Please keep posting here and inspiring me to do better.
Hugs,

Carol

Even by your VERY high standards. This is one of the best sets of shots I have ever seen, and it looks like your new camera is singing wonderfully in your hands. I love the composition, the detail, the stunning and tasteful b&w shots, and most of all the ability to tell a story with warmth, humanity and a sense of humour.

As Carol said you are truly an inspiration.

Sorry to post twice in a row but I'm new to this forum thing and was wondering what camera you use. (and if anyone knows the quickest way to the photo info, it would be appreciated( (exif?)

Great photos and it was clearly a feast for a camera buff. What was it called, and where?
