Hi there,

Trying to decide which pic to blow up as a print for a gift. Which shot do you like better? I can't decide.

although the building illumination and colours on the water are nicer to me on the bottom frame, Id take the top for both composition and sky

however, could i make a suggestion?
straighten the verticals to reduce/eliminate convergence

First one, and clone out the crane.

Number one if the printer can retain the same blue in the sky.

Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: I don't think they wanted me to say anything. It was just their way of having a bit of fun, the swines. Strange thing is they make such bloody good cameras.

Hi

The first works better for me with more blue left in the sky and the reflections a little less saturated than in no.2

Hi!

I like them both so now you have two gifts in stead of one. One for the dining room and one for the bedroom. On a serious note though I think only you can know which one is the better gift.

first one will look better in print

as prints are not backlit unlike computer monitors, darker themes do not look as good in prints

Cut the lower half of the frame containing the reflection in the water from the dark one, and paste it into the one with the blue sky.

I'd also crop a bit of the sky and foreground out. Try to make the waterline come out 1/3 up from the bottom vertically.

Thank you, it's nice to get the opinions of other photographers, as well as the helpful suggestions. So I guess most seemed to like the first one better due to the blue sky, and it might help also to straighten the verticals a bit. I'm also curious to see what it looks like to combine the water from the second picture with the buildings and sky of the first.
