How much are H.P. and Kodak cameras outside the U.S. as compared to what is charged in the U.S.A. ??

and,

Does anyone know where the U.S. cameras are manufactured ?

and,

Where are F707s for sale in the U.S.A. assembled ?

I've never once seen an HP or Kodak camera on sale in Japan. The only American camera I've seen on sale are Polaroids. And I love to troll at the electronic's stores.

p.s. I did run into a guy that looked just like John Belushi at one of these stores - "Samurai Camera" - it was called.

nuyah,

It is my experience that cameras sold in Japan for U.S. export are usually priced at about the equivalent to full retail here in the U.S., or sometimes more depending on the exchange rate.

I travel to Asia every month and shop regularly in Nipponbashi in Osaka and Akihabara in Tokyo. There are some duty-free stores in Osaka that sell the U.S. models. Be aware, however, that in the case of Sony, the warranty in Japan is valid only in Japan. Sony USA is an entirely different operation.

And sometimes less, depending on the exchange rate.

If you buy a Sony at a duty-free store in Akihabara (such as LAOX), you sometimes have the option of getting a Japanese warranty or an international warranty, depending on the model (whether it's an "export" model or a domestic one). I have gotten both there -- Japanese warranties with S75 and S85, and an international one for a P71. My F707 has a Japanese warranty (which I wanted anyway) since I bought it at a normal camera store in Okinawa.
