I had to laugh. I looked at the ViewNX video and noticed that its new interface looks a LOT like Lightroom's, so I tried to download it...and the link doesn't work. I suppose I should have expected as much. Oh well, maybe it will be up tomorrow...

You can download it here http://nikonimglib.com/nvnx/ . Just pick your country/region and language. I’ve already installed the Americas English version. So far it is impressive. Nikon Transfer is now integrated into Nikon ViewNX 2 instead of being a standalone program. When reviewing images the H and S keys are now showing channel clippings that Nikon ViewNX missed. The adjustments and Metadata panels are now on the right side while the folder browsing remains on the left panel.

Hi, Windows version is unusable on my computer (Vista). I have 45 images in folder. I selected 18 images (with icon 2). I tried to convert them to same folder. In this example it crashed about 10-15 times. (I downloaded European version). I will try later in Windows 7.

Regards, Ales

Downloaded it and played around and I can't say I'm too impressed. It's mostly cosmetic changes but no real features. I don't even think it warrant being called 2.0 All that time in development and this is the results. Still no cropping tool, that is just petty and pathetic of nikon, and still no 64-bit not that it would matter.

Maybe Nikon should just focus on CaptureNX, that is what they want people to really use. Have a CaptureNX that run in lite mode with all the features of ViewNX plus cropping. Buy a license, enable U-point, filters, etc.. Why split development resources over to application? I hope there is a CaptureNX 3 coming soon and I hope it's not a disappointment. All I really want is faster processing, stable and better workflow.

No cropping tool? Sure there is, you were just in too much of a hurry to jump on the Negativity Express to notice it (click on the "edit" tab at top and there it is). Please go back and study the program a bit before whining.

I think that the new ViewNx is much better than the older one. Now it seems to be a proper basic editing program. The weirdest thing in the old one was the lack of cropping and straightening tool. Now these two are there in the new one.

My main complaint in ViewNx 2 is that it sometimes has these odd "Nikon software bugs": when I tried to crop one of my pics in image viewer the program started to say: "Unsupported file" - and it was nef-file.

All in all, a major improvement over older ViewNx.

Same here, I have downloaded and installed from the international Nikon site, with no problem.

I'm sorry, I don't know what your are refering to. There is no cropping in ViewNX Nikon took out cropping since replacing PictureProject. The only editing as far as I can tell you can do in View NX is rotate and camera control adjustments.

Sorry if my opinon didn't agree with you. Do you alway get so offensive when someone has a different view on things?

Just found the new cropping tool, but it's not under edit. It's buried in the camera adjustment at the bottom. Happy? It took only 2 years to add cropping to View NX, wow I'm impressed. Seems faster at loading but have not tried to make minor adjustments to one or more files. That's where View NX would die or crash. (smile) Exposure adjust was always a pain to use with ViewNX.

Overall, the new ViewNX is not a huge improvement, mostly cosmetic and it's still playing catchup.

I downloaded it without an issue, and while I'm not that experience with these tools, it works pretty well for me, and faster than the old version.

I do have a decent computer though. Not the latest but still fast.

I updated my Apple Quicktime and the slideshow works.....don't ask me why. I think I had to do that for an earlier version.

I don't think you have to hightlight the pictures (all of them) to use the slideshow, but I think it will start with the one that you do have highlighted.

thanks for the help.

I downloaded the new version, and I'm pleased. It took forever to load my images before, and now it is very quick. I also like the layout and design better.

It might not have any relevance, but the fact that it doesn't utilize a 64-bit system makes me wonder if we won't see a new Capture NX (64-bit) any time soon.

Either way the new View NX2 is better for me than before.

Er. Does this View NX2 do RAW (NEF) conversion? I shoot with a D200.
