My family has a DSC W70 that has 7.2MP, ISO 1000, Carl Zeiss 2.8-5.2/6.3-18.9 lens, that I can use at times. I don't know if it has a bug, every time I set the date it never gets imprinted. Do you know thre reason, or if it's a bug of that model?

If by imprinting you mean the date and time would be visible on the picture - like in film cameras, then this is not possible, at least not with any sony camera i have/had (dont know about other cameras).

The date and time is stored in EXIF, along with other info about aperture, shutter speed etc. at which the picture was taken.

There might be some software which will read the data from exif and imprint it on the picture itself.

Probably yes.

I can say for sure it is so on H-9, H-50, HX-5 and W-290. So i'd guess all sony cameras

Have you tried the Picture Motion Browser software that comes with Sony cameras? I think there's a function to add a datestamp, based on the date/time information in the Exif. I haven't tried it though, but I think I read about it somewherre.

Otherwise you could try something like this: http://www.betterjpeg.com/stamping.htm

Personally I think it's much better not to have the camera print the date on the pictures, because it's such a shame if you take a really perfect image, that you want to have printed large, to hang on you wall, then it has that ugly red date stamp. So it is much better if you find a software solution, to add the date on the pictures, in post processing.
