It was a little challenging getting the flower macro shot in the bright daylight. I think bc it's a bright yellow flower. So, I waited until dusk and here is the result. No PP.

The lighting coming from the window and lamp was really nice. It seemed to highlight Tami's face. No PP.

I am really loving the Z950. I have finally found a great camera for me that does practically EVERYTHING I ask of it (so far).

Please do comment. One cannot learn without the criticism. I am much better with pets than I am with flowers or people.

I just want to thank everyone who helped me decide on the Z950. I couldn't be happier.

The first one - set your camera's white balance to "Daylight" - it looks a little to purple and I know with my Kodak, "Auto" white balance sometimes results in purplish outdoor pictures.

Tami's picture - incredible. You have a discerning eye for pictures :).

when you have a nice day try taking an upward shot of a flower
that may involve placing the camera on a cloth on the earth
this way you can end up with a nice blue sky back ground
just try it and have fun it may take a few shots or place a dark background
behind the flower

a piece of cardboard painted black or any color that you think will suit the occasion

Thanks for your posts. I am considering a z950. My current kodak does not focus well on closeups (flowers, etc.). So I am interested in your experiences. How close can you get where it will still focus adequately?

Hi Rosy, you may want to try this technique to get more detail from that yellow flower:

Under Shutter priority set the speed at 1000 or more and use the flash (at different strengths if the cam will allow). This will darken the background and bring out more detail in your subject.

That would probably result in a noisy background though as the camera turns up the gain on the shadow regions - I've tried it. And the flash creates a rather harsh looking image.

Although your mileage may vary.

Hi Rosy-

Nice photos. On the #2 photo of the dog, was the macro mode used? Whenever the camera to subject distance is less than 30 inches, switch over to the Macro Mode.
