I finally finished off the roll of 36 Fuji Superia Reala color film. Some images to share.

I was pushing a pram about the neighborhood when this bicycle just called out to be snapped. Ran it through SEP .... I rather like it.

In keeping with the bicycle theme, I took this one down by the Yarra River on a beautiful winter's afternoon, again processing with SEP

I asked this chap if he would mind me taking a picture - he obliged and went straight back to reading. The sun flare was massive across the frame especially to the right so I had to cropped it off into a square and then ran it through SEP to achieve a holga filter effect.

To be fair to the color roll of Reala, I left these next two untouched .... I really like the color coming off the film

The Yarra Princess is a tourist barge that cruises the river, much like the ones you get in European cities

The early morning sun on the foliage caught my eyes and the film rendered it beautifully

I will soon post similar images taken with the M9 just to illustrate the difference. Yes, I admit that post processing would have altered the characteristics some but in my opinion, not in any material way. In any case, your feedback is welcomed.

Cheers.

Thanks David. Nice shots and I look forward to the comparison with the M9. I think my dream combo would be both an M9 and an MP.

Hi David,

Great use of light and shadows on the first two ones. Like your various compositions overall. The conversion to B&W has made it quite well as well and retains well the film attribute of grainness.

The colored Reala pictures show very natural colors indeed.

Thanks for sharing,

Tibor

Wonderful shots David, particularly like the first one!

What little change of perspective can do to the photo - if you would take it from the standing height, it would be ordinary snapshot, but this one tells a story :)

Film is really great, and I have to say that I am more and more enthusiastic about it, looks lot better than digital actually :)

Having the M9 with the MP as an accompaniment works very well for me. It really is quite an indulgence but they have become almost an inseparable pair when I go out these days. Much to my surprise, I am having more fun with the film medium - the simple mechanics of the MP does makes me think about my photography a great deal more. I am not sure that the imagery I am creating is any better for it but hell .... I'm having a lot of fun. And surely that is enough reason in itself.

And it would be remiss of me not to inform you that your travel pictures are a wonderfully alluring set of images. What you captured of and how you displayed Angkor and Tonle Sap .... brings back many memories of my own trip there years ago. Well done and thank you.

Couldn't agree more Dinko. You singled out the one thing I thought made the image for me - the angle of my shot kneeling on the ground

I am not sure it's "better" per se than digital but yes, film does have its very own special appeal for me and I think for many other shooters.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Appreciate your feedback Tibor, and I concur with your opinion on Reala. Funny but first time I shot with it, I actually did not like it. But it is definitely one of my preference with color film now. Isn't it good to have the choice to change one's mind and not have to give any reason. LOL
