regarding the FZ100 etc?

regarding the FZ100 etc?
At the time of this posting, it's already about 9:15pm in England where dpreview is headquartered. Maybe they'll put something up at midnight.

On the other hand, why should they bother? What difference is a few hours going to make, really? It's not like we're going to be able to buy it any sooner.

Didn't realise DP Review was UK based,
Assumed it was USA, as so many contributors from there.

i am keenly awaiting developments regarding this as just a few days ago i posted this thread in the beginners forum as i am in the market for a bridge camera and look at this now FZ 40 and FZ 100, as i am deciding between the SX20 IS, P100 (nikon) and FZ 35 but was keenly looking at prices to determine value and price for features.

best regards,

Americans will always love the Brits. Well except for that certain oil company. Anyway, DPR has its roots in the UK and here is a bit about its staff:

Why Not Help Someone to Feel A Little Better Every Day?

Today is the day, 21 is a lucky number, do not leave home, order pizza in, keep the pre order credit armed and ready....its gunna be HUGE.....
To the complainers........ as Kevin says, get the credit card, buy one of everything and then you can complain with authority.

Anyway it's nearly 8am of Wednesday 21st in the real world (Australia) and nobody has released anything yet.

Regards......... Guy

In NZ we seem to be able to get them through parallel importers pretty quick, the FZ's are always slow to get into the main retailers though.

I have bought my last 3 cameras through the "trademe" site for several hundred dollars less than retail prices (when they eventually turn up)
I think my FZ35 was shipped to me directly from Hong Kong.

Holy smokes! Australia is an island??!!!
Nope, a colony :)
Wrong again, it's 6 colonies.

Consequently we have 7 "Queens". One Governor to represent the Queen in each State and then one Governor General to represent the Queen at Federal level in Canberra.

Roll on the Republic!

Anyway, my ancestors were sent here for free for their misdeeds and it really did me a favour. Nice place to live.

Yeah, So a few hours to go now still .

Hey Guy, from your experience, how long will we have to wait in Oz to get our grubby mits on one?
Never really been that keen to get the early high priced items, so never taken much notice of how fast to arrive. Estimate maybe 2 months to be generally available may be a good idea if planning for a holiday. But it does vary wildly from brand to brand.

Regards........... Guy

Yup. A tiny island jammed between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Totally overcrowded now with about 22 million of us.

As for release timing, Japan is about 2 hours behind Sydney and way ahead of Europe and USA so why not release in Japan time?

Wife and I live in Southern California or as I refer to it Califunny and have looked into moving to either Australia or New Zealand. Wife has been to New Zealand. Anyway, unlike the U.S. apparently there are requirements for entry into both countries. Good show I say!

Now to the important matter at hand. The Panasonic announcement. I gather you can get the cameras from Hong Kong quickly. I'll bet it will take another month to get them here.

Yup, quite strict entry requirements. My doctor is an English woman (with a young family) surviving here on a work visa that she has to renew regularly, she lately had to go do an English language test in order to renew her visa. That would stop the US migrants! :-)

Why hurry? The cameras will be around for a while and will get a bit cheaper as more competition arrives. Anyway, my LX3 still works fine so no way I will even think of updating.
