I want to begin taking some shots of food and don't know which lens to use. I own a few lenses: 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8 and 24-105mm f/4L and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6. Would any of these work or do I need a macro lens, like the 100mm macro f/2.8?

Tight shots require a very close-focusing lens. I've used the 10-22 successfully for that. Otherwise, 24mm to 70mm is a good range on a crop camera.
Food photography is so much more about styling and lighting than lenses.

I recommend using lenses you have and practice a lot. You'll soon see if there are limitations. I'll bet you'll want studio lighting and props before more lenses...

If you are serious about this type of photography, I would recommend one of the TS lenses, most likely the 45mm, which becomes a 72mm on a 1.6X body. The tilt feature will allow you to change the plane of focus thereby making a plate of food appear sharp from front to back edge without using a very small aperture.
