I have a F-80 since last may and tried a few macro shots but the results (with 28-80 and 70-300) were not good enough for me to continue. Same with my Casio QV 2300 (2 MP). I took a few shots today with the 7i (I only have it since last thursday). If this is what a review called "Relatively good macro" then what is excellent macro for a dc ? ...

Very nice! Love those RED ladybugs - where I live, they're just sort of a dull orange, but I remember really red ones from my youth when I lived 3000 miles from here. I'm a big fan of the macro on these cameras, too - love being able to shoot from a few inches away.

Hi Mikl

I too love the macro on the 7i. Some DCs will get closer though and I think that's why the reviewers say it's only relatively good.

It would be nice to be able to get a little closer sometimes but I think that it would soon reach the point where you were blocking out the light to your subject and then you'd have to start buying macro flash systems.

You've got lovely macro shots in your galeries. The one I like most in the kind of geometrical arrangement of small flowers (third row, third pic). Wow ! Realy nice.

Nice shots! I am a macro fan also. If you want to get a little better, pick up a set of close up lenses. I picked up a set of Spiralites (+1, +2, and 2 +3's) for $10 at a garage sale. I was mainly interested in being able to digitize slide with my D7 and had read that this was a good way. Well I started playing around with them and discovered a whole new world! Besides that i modified my old slide projector so it provided diffused light to the slides, removed the lens housing and I now have a automatic device for transporting the slides for digitization. I just have to find the time to do it now!
